CMS Science Olympiad Team Takes 4th Place at Stat
Congrats to the Chardon Middle School Science Olympiad Team who finished 4th in the state competition held Saturday, April 27 in Columbus. The team did very well and we are very proud of their accomplishments.

The national Science Olympiad program, which had its start 29 years ago, has led a revolution in science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premiere science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 6,800 teams in 50 states. Science Olympiad’s ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and a myriad of career choices. Thank you to Dr. Anne Clouser and her dedicated cast of volunteer coaches who, year after year, have put Chardon Schools on the map with this outstanding program.

Color Mom’s Day with Flowers
Why not give your mom a beautiful blooming plant to show her you love her? The Hambden PTO is hosting a Mother’s Day Flowering Plant Sale at Hambden Twp. Park, Friday (3-7 p.m.) & Saturday (9 a.m.-1 p.m. ) on May 10 & 11.
Middlefield Art Show
Don’t miss the Middlefield Historical Society Student Art Show (located just south of Rt. 87 & Rt. 608). Sat. & Sun. May 11-12 from 11:00-4:00 p.m. This is a judged art show featuring the creative talents of Geauga County elementary students including Chardon’s four elementary schools.
Middle School NJHS Supports Honor Flight Cleveland

Chardon Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently completed a fundraiser that benefited Honor Flight Cleveland, whose mission is to pay tribute to U.S. veterans who served our country by providing them a safe and memorable all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials honoring their service. The students held a candy sale and raised $250, which they recently presented to Honor Flight Representative Jan Merrick. Mrs. Merrick says the Cleveland Chapter of Honor Flight will be traveling to D.C. with their first group of veterans on May 15.
Maple School is Headed to the Zoo
The Maple PTO is sponsoring a field trip to the Zoo on Friday, May 24, rain or shine. They have seven buses reserved to leave at 9:00 a.m. and return around 2:15 p.m. Children should dress appropriately, wear sneakers, and bring a brown bag lunch (no refrigeration will be available). Please contact your child’s teacher if you are interested in being a chaperone, understanding that we are not able to accommodate younger siblings on the trip. The cost for Chaperones is $5 dollars. Thanks for your willingness to support enrichment activities for our Maple students.
Maddie Downs Wins iPad Mini
Maple first grader Maddie Downs is all smiles after winning an iPad Mini at the Chardon’s recent Family Science Day Raffle. Thank you to the Chardon Rotary Club for underwriting the raffle.

Girls Summer Basketball Camp
The Lady Hilltopper Summer Basketball Camp for girls in grades 5-8 will be held from Monday, July 22, to Thursday, July 25. Registration forms can be found on the Chardon Schools Website under Athletics.
