And other April happenings at NDCL
In Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition
NDCL senior Alexandra Graham’s (Chagrin Falls) ceramic vase entitled “Metamorphosis” (pictured above) is one of only 300 pieces selected—out of more than 12,000 entries—to be displayed in the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition in Columbus from April 13 through May 15.
“I put so much work into it and I am so honored and in awe that my piece was selected out of the 12,000 entered,” said Graham. Another one of Alex’s entries earned regional honors in the photography category.
She credits her growth to the guidance of all her Visual Art teachers at NDCL; Ms. Susan Ancheta, Mr. Peter Nezovich, and Mrs. Mary Ann Sedivy. Alex is especially grateful to her current teacher, Mrs. Sedivy, for her help with this piece.
“Mrs. Sedivy has truly helped me grow so much this year,” Graham explained. “She allows me the freedom to take risks and create my own ideas for the pieces. But the vase would not be where it is at without her guidance and encouragement.”
Alex plans to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago next fall and major in fashion design.
NDCL also congratulates the following seniors whose artworks got the nod of the judges at the regional level in their respective categories: Joe Frankhauser (Kirtland), drawing and painting (two awards); Annie Melinz (Willoughby Hills), mixed media; and Allison Perpar (Willoughby), painting.
NDCL submits updated floor plans to State Attorney General for school safety plan
Assistant Principal Mr. Vincent Bonacci recently re-submitted updated floor plans of NDCL’s buildings to the State Attorney General’s Office, which reviewed and approved these important documents.
“We re-submitted our plans to reflect changes to our facilities and to ensure that the plans for all buildings on the entire Notre Dame campus are consistent,” explained Mr. Bonacci. “In addition, we have added new number signs to all exterior doors and classroom windows to help first responders identify specific locations on our floor plans.”
NDCL’s updated plans have also been submitted the Munson Fire Department and Geauga County Sheriff’s Office.
