Amphibians of Many Kinds – Come See What’s Come Out in Nature with the Geauga Park District

We’re so fortunate in Geauga Park District to have healthy ecosystems the slippery wet critters of springtime can call home. We’re talking about our woodland amphibians, of course, and if you enjoy their warmer-weather awakening as much as we do, we’ve got three programs at The West Woods just for you!

Amazing Amphibians on Saturday, May 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Learn about frogs and salamanders during a fun indoor presentation, then head outdoors for a half-mile hike to experience the sights and sounds. No registration required.

Frog Fest “Party Line” Call List – Sometime in May, 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Register at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 to get a call (expect short notice) when conditions are right for the noisy courtship of Gray Tree Frogs and Green Frogs as they come to woodland pools to breed. Nature’s Not to Be Missed!

Secret Lives of Salamanders on Friday, May 17th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Roberta Muehlhein, assistant curator of vertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, relates the biology, mating and biodiversity of Ohio’s salamanders, complete with displays of live local salamanders! No registration required.
