Wish you could confidently give a presentation or speak in front of a group? The area’s top speakers and evaluators will demonstrate these skills in the Area 20/23 International Speech and Evaluation Contest.
The contest will be held Thursday, January, 31st at the Western Reserve Land Conservancy Office, 102-C E. Park St., Chardon. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. the event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.
In the International Speech Contest, competitors will have five to seven minutes to speak on the topic of their choice. A guest speaker will provide a speech for the Evaluation contestants, who then will present a two- to three-minute evaluation.
One winner from each area in the two contests will move on to Eastern Division contest, where they will vie for the opportunity to compete for the coveted title of District 10 champion. The Chardon Toastmasters meet every Thursday evening, from 6:30 – 7:45 in the offices of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Membership is open to anyone over 18 years of age. We’re proud to have three of our members competing in this contest: Matt Everett, Marvin Hershberger and Robbie McKee.
Area 20 includes the Chardon, Parker SpeakEasies and Western Reserve Toastmasters public clubs and the STERIS Toastmasters Club, a corporate club. Area 23 is made up of the Bailey, Eastside Advanced, Lubrizol and Minor Road Speakeasy clubs.
