Author Alex Kershaw to Speak at Notre Dame

The Geauga County Library Foundation’s Distinguished Speaker Series will feature Alex Kershaw, author of acclaimed World War II nonfiction, at the Sisters of Notre Dame Education Center Auditorium (13000 Auburn Road, Chardon). This not-to-be-missed program promises to be both enlightening and moving as Mr. Kershaw shares his stories about the heroism and sacrifices of the “Greatest Generation” during World War II.

The program begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Tickets for the program are $5 and are available at all Geauga County libraries and at the door the night of the program. A limited number of tickets to the 6:30 p.m. author’s reception (which includes the program) are $20 and must be pre-purchased by Friday, October 31.

His most recent book, The Liberator, traces the journey of Felix Sparks, an officer in the 157th Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division, whose path passed through fierce fighting in Italy, France, Germany, and the liberation of Dachau. Alex Kershaw has also written The Envoy, Escape from the Deep, The Few, and The Bedford Boys. Several of his books have been optioned by Hollywood, including The Few, which was selected as the Military Book Club’s first-ever book of the year in 2006. Mr. Kershaw also wrote two biographies: Blood and Champagne: The Life and Times of Robert Capa and Jack London.

Patrons may bring their books to be signed. Barnes and Noble will also have a selection of titles available for purchase before and after the program.
