Five very impressive senior athletes at Berkshire Jr/Sr High School have signed their commitments to compete at the collegiate level today. Athletes who signed were Christin Dornback, Suzanne Koziol, Katelyn Luther, Ben Blechschmid, and Rebecca Porter.

Christin Dornback signed a national letter of intent to continue her running career at Arkansas State University. Christin is a four year member of both the cross country and track teams, and has been a state qualifier four times in cross country and twice in track. During her time at Berkshire, Christin has received various awards ranging from All-Chagrin Valley Conference to All-Ohio. Maybe most impressive is Christin’s naming to the Academic All-Ohio team five times, as she will graduate with over a 4.0 GPA.

Suzanne Koziol signed a national letter of intent to continue her running career at Youngstown State University. Suzanne is a four year member of both the cross country and track teams, and has been a state qualifier four times in cross country and three times in track. During her running career at Berkshire, Suzanne has also won many awards, ranging from All-CVC to All-Ohio, including a CVC Most Valuable Performer award this past year.

Katelyn Luther signed a national letter of intent to continue her running career at Walsh University. Katelyn is a four year member of both the cross country and track programs at Berkshire, and has been a state qualifier four times in cross country. A highlight for Katelyn would be placing 8th in the combined D2/D3 OATCCC Indoor state championship this past march in Akron. Katelyn has also been a 3x member of the Academic All-Ohio team, and will graduate with over a 3.8 GPA.

Ben Blechschmid committed to playing football at Baldwin Wallace University. Ben was a four year member of the Berkshire football team and had a stellar senior season. Ben was a first team All-CVC performer, first team All Northeast Lakes District performer, Geauga County Maple Leaf Offensive MVP and was named 3rd team Div 6 All–Ohio by the Associated Press. This year, Ben set or broke Berkshire’s all-time records for touchdowns in a season, points in a season and all-purpose yardage in a season. He was also the 16th member to join Berkshire’s 1,000 yard rushing club.

Rebecca Porter committed to swim at Allegheny College. Rebecca is a four year swimmer for Berkshire. She is a three time member of the All-CVC team for swimming and has advanced to Districts every year, with her best finish coming this year with an 11th in the breaststroke. Rebecca will be one of the top graduating seniors in this year’s class with over a 4.0 GPA.
