Blackbrook Audubon Society will close the 2018-19 season with their annual potluck picnic open to everyone Tuesday, June 18th at Lake Metroparks’ Hidden Lake. Bring a dish to share, place setting and beverage to 7024 Kniffen Road, Leroy Twp. at 6:00 p.m. Blackbrook will provide hotdogs and dinner will be 6:30 p.m. Following the meal, picnickers will have the option of a naturalist-led hike or more time in the four-season shelter with fellow birders.

Hidden Lake offers nearly a mile loop trail around a nine-acre pond where park goers can catch and release fish. Lake Metroparks opened an archery range here last September. Flush restrooms and a reservable campsite are also available.

To find Hidden Lake from I-90, use the Vrooman Road exit and head south. At the roundabout, turn left (east) onto Leroy Center Road. Turn right (south) onto Kniffen Road and the park will be on the right. Enter the south driveway for the picnic shelter.

Blackbrook Audubon Society is the chapter of National Audubon covering Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake counties. All programs, field trips and monthly walks are open to everyone.
