Some say there’s nothing more relaxing than traversing forested trails from a seat in the saddle atop your favorite horse. If you can relate, register at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 to bring your horse out for a Geauga Park District naturalist-led ride this fall.
This season’s rides are both on the calendar for Sunday, October 13th, at Headwaters Park. Both will meet our naturalist at the park’s main parking lot on Route 608 and proceed on to the Buckeye and Maple Bridle Trails.
What will set these rides apart will be the position of our sun in the sky! Riders on the first outing from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will take in the autumn color, views of the reservoir and Nature lore. Then, on the second ride from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the sights and sounds of autumn will be on display differently as the sun sets and the full moon rises over East Branch Reservoir – a truly memorable experience!
Riders must trailer their own horses to the park; helmets are encouraged. Please anticipate hills, gravel, bridge or stream crossings and possible bikes and/or Amish buggies on these rides.
Riders may also visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org and find Horseback Riding under Activities for a wealth of information: links to all our parks where riding is permitted, rules for riding in the parks, total trail mileages, trailer parking addresses and upcoming equine programming. New this summer: a map to Holbrook Hollows, which connects you to the Cleveland Metroparks Bridle Trail!
