Girls Basketball
Jess Koches led the girls basketball team to a 40-32 victory over Harvey on Friday, December 6. She scored 13 points despite foul trouble keeping her out much of the game. Biz Timas added 13 rebounds and Emily Kruse had 11. Christine Morris had a solid all around game with 6 points, 2 assists, and 5 steals.
Cardinal got off to a fast start, scoring 26 points in the first half as they built an eight-point lead going into the locker room. Harvey was unable to respond in the second half. Cardinal improves to 2-3.
Boys Basketball
The Huskies improved to 4-0 this week. On Saturday, the Huskies beat rival Berkshire in a close 43-40 game. Cardinal scored 20 points and held the Badgers to just 3 in the 3rd quarter. The highlight of the night was a slam dunk by senior Jake DiBlasio. Cardinal defeated Conneaut 55-36 on Tuesday.
Wrestling
Cardinal finished in 2nd place at the Cardinal Wrestling Tournament with 122 points on Saturday. The Cardinal White team finished in 6th place with 44 points. Lutheran West won the tournament with 154 points, and Garfield was 3rd with 101 points. Brandon Neikirk won the 103 bracket (4-0). Trent Mast won the 113 bracket (9-1). Kyle Simms won the 160 bracket (pin 3:20).
On Wednesday, the Huskies hosted South Range and Tallmadge, finishing in 2nd place.
