On Friday, Jan. 8, Cardinal Schools crowned seventh grader Halle D. as the District Spelling Bee Champion!
After several back and forth rounds with runner-up Ashley M., Halle finally pulled off the spelling victory in the 11th round after correctly spelling the word “mentality.” Ashley’s mom says the pair studied hard over the winter break, saying and spelling the words on the list constantly. Halle will go on to represent Cardinal in the County Spelling Bee on Feb. 18.
Seventh graders Ashley M. and Aaron E., came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In all, 24 third through eighth graders participated in the event which was coordinated by teachers Mrs. Cameron and Miss McKnight.
