Cardinal High School Senior Signs Letter of Intent to Play Soccer!

Trent M. to Continue Soccer Career at Bluffton University

A childhood dream is coming true for Cardinal High School senior Trent M. On Thursday, January 12, 2017 he officially signed his collegiate letter of intent to play soccer for the NCAA Division III Bluffton University Beavers. “I have always wanted to play college soccer,” Trent says. “My older brother wanted to play, so that always motivated me to push hard for this goal, I always wanted to be like him, so this is really exciting, I’m extremely happy to have this opportunity.”

A three-sport athlete, Trent is also a member of the Cardinal High School marching band. During the 2016-2017 soccer season Trent led the team in assists and was second in points. “He had an incredible season,” says Soccer Coach Mike Topalian. “Trent is energetic and fun, he never quits, I’m thrilled he gets to continue his passion for soccer at the next level; Bluffton is getting a great player and teammate.”

Trent says he knew he wanted to attend Bluffton shortly after visiting campus. “I did a visit, attended a camp and just really liked the coaches, players, and program they have in place there,” he says.

“This was the best possible fit for all of the things I was looking for academically, athletically, and personally.” His invitation letter to join the team came just before Christmas. “This has always been his dream,” says Trent’s mother Kristan. “We are so proud and just so happy for him, he’s worked very hard – we have a lot of road trips planned for next season!”

Trent plans to major in sports communications.
