The Cardinal Local Schools’ financial audit for the fiscal year of 2015 has been returned by the Auditor of State’s office as a clean audit report. Cardinal’s excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award.
Treasurer Merry Lou Knuckles states, “It takes the efforts of the whole District to follow the proper procedures so we can continue to have clean audits and receive the recognition for hard work such as this award.” She, in particular, thanks her staff, Rebecca Fisher, Assistant to the Treasurer/Payroll, and Terri Fisher, Accounts Payable, for all they do to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently.
The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the awards meet the following criteria for a “clean” audit report:

- The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or questioned costs.
- The entity’s management letter contains no comments related to:
- Ethics referrals

- Reconciliation
- Failure to obtain a timely Single Audit
