Cardinal Senior Receives Hometown Achievement Award Presented by R+L Carriers

Cardinal High School Senior Megan T. has received the Hometown Achievement Award from R+L Carriers. Megan received the award prior to kick off of the varsity football game held at Cardinal on Friday, September 30th.

R+L gives the award to a student that demonstrates exceptional sportsmanship, outstanding character, and a commitment to community involvement. School administrators say they selected Megan because she not only exhibits exceptional character, but also because she is an example of what makes our school and community great. In addition to being on the cheerleading squad, Megan is also a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and Key Club and has held offices in all three clubs. She has also participated in both the fall play and spring musicals, is an active member of the student-run Cardinal News Network, and volunteers her time assisting students in the special education classroom. Outside of school Megan says she is very active within her church and is involved in competitive cheerleading.

“When I heard my name called, I was so surprised,” says Megan. “I am honored and grateful for the recognition.”

R+L Carriers hosted a family-friendly tailgate at the football game September 30th after spending the day at Cardinal Middle School. Students and members of the community were able to tour the company’s hauler, learn more about the careers they offer, and participate in some games for a chance to win prizes. R+L also donated $2,250.00 to the District; $1,000.00 to both the middle and high schools for scholarships and the other $250.00 went to the athletic department.
