Rescue Village Kicks off their #GivingTuesday Campaign and #TailsOfGivingTuesday with the Tail of Loui

Rescue Village has officially kicked off their #GivingTuesday campaign by sharing the first edition of “#TailsOfGivingTuesday” which are stories told every Tuesday from now until #GivingTuesday of animals who have passed through our doors and left paw prints on our hearts.

This week, was the story of Loui, a puppy who traveled hundreds of miles on a transport van with 26 other dogs who had been rescued from severely flooded shelters in Louisiana. These pups traveled from those flood waters in LA to Atlanta Humane Society, who then drove them the 700+ miles north to Rescue Village.

After getting some on air time from the local news, Loui, his energetic brothers, and the other dogs from the transport received medical care, were fixed, and assessed behaviorally before being put up for adoption. During his short time here the staff and volunteers quickly learned that Loui was going to be quite a handful. He and his brothers even attempted crawling out of their puppy pens on more than one occasion and you could always expect lots of licking and tail wagging from Loui.

All of the Louisiana pups were local doggy celebrities for a while but it was Loui who won the heart of a human celebrity. Joe Schobert and his girlfriend Megan McDonnell met Loui on August 27th, just 5 days after he arrived and immediately fell in love.

You can help us provide life saving transfers in times of crisis to help dogs like Loui by donating to Rescue Village on Giving Tuesday, November 29th. This transfer traveled over 700 miles to get to Rescue Village but we receive 1-2 transfers a month from all over the country. Rescue Village is working to get our very own transfer vehicle so that we can go and pick up animals from other shelters who need homes. Your support will not only help us to purchase this vehicle but will help to fuel transfers for years to come.

Head to to donate (You can also head to www.geaugahumane.org).

Check out our social media (@RescueVillage) on November 29th for an update on how Loui is doing and every Tuesday until then for more #TailsOfGivingTuesday.
