Congratulations to Cardinal High School senior Miranda S. for winning a substantial first place prize in the Burton/Middlefield Rotary Four Way Speech Contest.
The Rotary offers this program yearly to students from Newbury, Burton and Middlefield. The students are required to write and present a four to seven minute speech revolving around an ethical issue and help to solve the issue using four given questions.
Miranda addressed her speech towards the need for incorporating more soft skills into the high school curriculum so that students will be better prepared to enter the workforce beyond simply having the academic knowledge to obtain employment.
Miranda will go on to compete in a district level competition against students from all over northeastern Ohio on April 5, 2014, at Aurora High School.
Thank you to the Rotary for providing this opportunity, as well as scholarships and various donations, to the benefit of our local students.
