Chagrin Falls High School Ranks High on U.S. News & World Report “Best High Schools” List


Chagrin Falls High School is a 2021 Best High School, based on rankings from the U.S. News & World Report.   Chagrin Falls High School is ranked #2 in Cleveland, #8 in Ohio and #291 in national rankings. Of the 27,000 high schools in the country, nearly 18,000 schools were nationally ranked and 683 schools were ranked in Ohio.  In addition, the school was nationally ranked #71 in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) high schools.  This year’s ranking puts Chagrin Falls High School in the top 1% of high schools in the nation.

 

“This achievement is a result of committed students and dedicated staff in every one of our school buildings in Chagrin; however, it is also reflective of a community that values education and supports the offering of a robust Advanced Placement program,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Hunt, Chagrin Falls Schools.

 

Ranking factors included:

  • College readiness (30%): percentage of seniors that took at least one Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exam and the percentage who passed. (CFHS is ranked #19 in Ohio)

  • College curriculum breadth (10%): percentage of seniors who took a “a wide variety” of AP and IB courses across multiple disciplines and those who passed. (CFHS is ranked #9 in Ohio)

  • Math and reading proficiency (20%): how well students did on state reading and math assessments. (CFHS is ranked #4 in Ohio)

  • Math and reading performance (20%): how well students did on state reading and math assessments compared to what the publication predicted based on modeling. (CFHS is ranked #21 in Ohio)

  • Graduation rate (10 percent): 2018 graduates. (CFHS is ranked #226 “tie” in Ohio)
