Chagrin Falls Senior Athletes Take Part in “Signing Day”

Four Chagrin Falls High School senior athletes took part in a “signing day” after school February 5 to sign letters of intent to play college sports.

Chagrin Falls High School senior football player Lukas Sontich has committed to playing football at the University of Pennsylvania. Lukas is a three-year letter winner at Chagrin. Sontich, a 6’2, 220 pound linebacker/tight end, earned 2nd Team All-CVC Honors and was selected as an All Star for the News Herald and Geauga County Touchdown Club teams. Lukas was also on the Northeast Lakes All District Team. In addition to his honors for competing on the field, Sontich was named as a member of the CVC All Academic Team.

Chagrin Falls High School senior track and field high jumper, Antonio Conte, has signed with the University of Cincinnati. Conte is a four-year letter winner at Chagrin in Track and Field. Last season, Conte was the Chagrin Valley Conference MVP in the field events and was named First Team All Conference. Conte also qualified for the state meet last year jumping 6’5” and finishing in 7th place.

Chagrin Falls High School senior Max Hallwachs has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Notre Dame to play soccer. Max was a member of the Chagrin Falls Soccer team in 2011 and was selected as a first team CVC member as the Tigers’ goalie. He was also named to the 2nd team by the Greater Cleveland Soccer Coaches Association. Hallwachs competed for the Cleveland Internationals Soccer Club in 2011-2013 and due to USSDA rules was not able to continue playing high school soccer his junior and senior year.

Chagrin Falls High School senior Ed Shelley will be a preferred walk on at the University of Toledo. Ed made second team All Ohio Kicker his junior year. His senior year he made first team all CVC, Geauga County, News Herald, and All Northeast Lakes District teams. Shelley holds the Chagrin Falls records for most field goals and longest field goal in school history (52 yarder in a playoff game).

Players, coaches, administrators and family members attended the signing that was held in the Sands Community Room at Chagrin Falls High School.

Senior Tyler O’Brien signed a letter of intent last fall to continue his career at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
