Did you know that the Chardon Schools are celebrating 200 years of education?
Our recent research tells us that in the summer of 1815, Miss Mehitable Hall made her way from her home in Claridon, walking a path through the woods marked by blazed trees, to teach school in a tiny log house located just off the Square.
We’re forming a “Birthday Committee” of folks who are interested in local history and also those who would like to help plan a student and community event. Our first meeting is set for Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chardon Middle School Library.
We’re also interested in family stories, memorabilia and photos of those who worked for, or attended school in bygone years. If you have anything you would like to lend or donate, please contact ellen.ondrey@chardonschools.org or call 440-285-4052.
