Marilyn Harman and Juel Leonard, members of the Chardon Toastmasters Club, took first place in the Area 20 Annual Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest Monday, September 23, 2014. Marilyn’s speech, “The Games We Play,” took top honors in the Humorous Speech contest, while Juel defined Ecology in the impromptu Table Topics Contest. Area 20 comprises six clubs in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga Counties.
The public is invited to the Eastern Division Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest, which is the next level of contests, at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 14 at the West Woods Nature Preserve in Novelty. Complimentary refreshments will be served. At this level, winners from the Area Contests within the Eastern Division of District 10 Toastmasters will compete. There can be as many as six contestants in each segment of the contest, so you’ll have an opportunity to hear the best of the best from over 2,000 members of area Toastmasters Clubs.
