Cherry Dessert – In the Kitchen with Sheryl

When I think of summer, I think of picnics, barbeques, baseball games, family reunions, and my moms cherry dessert. This quick, easy, delicious dessert can be made a day ahead or the day of your function. You will need at least four hours of chilling time for the cream cheese to set.

1st layer: Graham cracker crust

2nd layer: Make one package of Dream Whip according to directions.

Beat together: 8 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese

1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup sugar

Fold or mix the Dream Whip into the Cream Cheese Mixture

3rd layer: Large can of Cherry pie filling

Mom’s original recipe calls for an 8 x 10 layer pan. I have used a 13 x9 and it works perfectly. Two 9” pre made graham cracker crusts purchased at the store will also work.

Note: If you plan to make your own graham cracker crust you will need the following:

1 ½ cups of crushed graham crackers, approximately 18 crackers
¼ cup of sugar
5 Tbl. Melted butter

Mix together and press into your desired serving dish or dishes.

This is one of my favorite dishes from my mom’s recipe library. Cherry dessert is a sweet, refreshing treat to eat on any hot summer’s day. I promise you will love it just as much and my family does!

Enjoy! From: “In the Kitchen with Sheryl”
