Conversation about Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs to be Held at Geauga Family YMCA on August 9

The Chardon Community Action Team (CCAT) is pleased to announce a program to help parents Start Talking about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The CCAT mission is to reduce alcohol, drugs, and tobacco use in our youth through education and community events for our youth and families.

Start Talking will take place on August 9th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Geauga Family YMCA, which is located at 12460 Bass Lake Road, Chardon, Ohio. The evening program will be led by Matthew Petersen OCPS, Lake-Geauga Recovery Center, and include an appearance by Missy Bell OCPS, Ravenwood Health Center. The 2-hour workshop is meant to be informative and interactive. There will be discussions about recent trends that kids are seeing, and fun and simple activities that you can do with your kids to help show the negative effects of using drugs and alcohol.

“We are in the middle of an Opiate epidemic and our children are being still being offered as other drugs and parents you need up to date information, to learn what your kids are seeing, and learn what approaches there are to talk to your kids,” said Matt Petersen, facilitator of Start Talking program in Geauga County.

Parents or other interested community members are encouraged to attend this opportunity. If you are interested in finding out more about the Start Talking program, please call Matt Peterson at (440) 205-2672 ext. 224.
