District Receives ENERGY STAR Recognition

The Chardon School District has earned the ENERGY STAR LEADER recognition for improving its energy efficiency consistently by more than 20 percent throughout the district. In addition, all six school buildings in Chardon have earned ENERGY STAR certification from the EPA. To qualify for the award, Hambden, Maple, Munson, Park, Chardon Middle and Chardon High Schools rated in the top 25 percent nationwide for energy efficiency. Energy Specialist Linda Penttilla was on hand at the school district’s October board meeting to give an update on the program and to present certificates to each of the district’s building principals.
