Continuing on with our recipes with funny names, my 4th pick, Dump Cake, seems like the only logical one for me to choose since I had just shared my recipe Garbage with you.
A recipe cannot get much simpler than this one which makes Dump Cake a great dessert recipe to have on hand. When you have a potluck, family, or friend gathering, this dish will be ready to go in less than one hour, and since it will have just come out of the oven, that makes it even better for serving with your favorite ice cream or whipped topping. I could not begin to tell you the number of times I have made this with the reviews always being the same; delicious!
Kick this recipe up a notch, and do what I do. Try two different kinds of fruit. I love the cherry and blueberry combination, just like my pies! You can use two cans of cherry pie filling along with 1 ½ cups of frozen blueberries adding one medium can of crushed pineapple (do not drain). Stir these ingredients together, and then place in the bottom of your 13×9 pan. Place cake mix and butter over top, same as the recipe below calls for. Bake 35-45 minutes, 350 degrees until golden brown. With canned fruit and fresh fruits, your choices are almost endless.
Ingredients:
2 (15 oz.) cans peaches, chopped (do not drain)
1 box cake mix, white or yellow (18.25 oz.)
1 stick of butter or margarine, cut into pieces
Directions:
In a 9×13 ungreased pan, place chopped peaches and its juice. Pour the dry cake mix evenly over top of the fruit. Do not stir. Place butter pieces all over the top of the cake mix. Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Top with cool whip or vanilla ice-cream!
