Thompson Ledges Township Park
16755 Thompson Rd,
Join the Foundation for a visit to one of Geauga County’s natural treasures – Thompson Ledges Township Park. We will gather at the overlook and descend the stairs to the base of the outcropping to hike the primitive trails. Thompson Township’s Jim Schafer and Park Board Member Brit Townsend will meet with the group to speak on the geology and biology of the property. We will also learn park history, as well as plans and aspirations for the future.
Because of current health restrictions mandated by the State of Ohio, face coverings are required, and participants are asked to maintain distances of six feet between themselves and others.
Thompson Ledges Township Park features a large outcropping of Sharon Conglomerate sandstone ledges, picnic shelter and viewing area, with stairs leading to the base of the outcropping.
The citizens of Thompson established this first park district in Geauga County in 1940. The park is open sun up to sun down.
The Foundation for Geauga Parks Explorers Series was established so park lovers may join us each month to explore a different park in Geauga County by boot, bike, paddle, or skis.
Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement about the Foundation for Geauga Parks’ 2020 Geauga Trail Challenge: Walk-Run-Ride!
