Family Pride of Northeast Ohio, located in Chardon, is a nonprofit that offers mental health counseling and case management services throughout Geauga, Lake, Ashtabula, and eastern Cuyahoga counties.
The growing agency strives to meet the needs of children, youth and families within their natural environment such as home, school, or work within the timeframe that best meets the needs of families. They have an experienced and passionate staff of therapists who fully embrace the phrase, “When families are strong, communities are strong”, and work hard to strengthen the family system as well as promote healing and healthy relationships.
The History of Family Pride
Family Pride was started by experienced clinical social worker, James H. McAuley. Passionate about the mental health needs of children, Mr. McAuley worked with the late Judge Charles Henry to develop an intensive in-home program with the entire family that promotes positive family communication and role development and healthy coping strategies. He found these interventions to be successful and Family Pride became a Nonprofit 501 C3 Corporation in 2005. These interventions and passionate approach to treating clients serve as the foundation for Family Pride’s entire mission – providing exceptional clinical care to families across Northeast Ohio.
Services Provided
Family Pride offers a variety of services to children, adolescents and adults whose mental health is impacting the daily lives of themselves as well as their families.
Services include counseling, which can be individual, couples, or family and case management which includes advocacy and building daily living skills. Individual counseling services provide clients with the opportunity to express thoughts and feelings in a safe environment while building self-esteem and learning coping skills.
Couples counseling is focused on improving how the individuals in the relationship communicate with each other and solve problems together.
Family counseling services are typically directed through one or two individuals within the family but the interventions provided may address the entire family dynamics. The clinical staff evaluates the entire family dynamic and works to build healthy communication, problem solving and bonding.
In addition, Family Pride offers weekly two different parent education groups that focus on parents who are going through a divorce or separation (Cooperative Parenting) and parents of elementary-aged children (Active Parenting Now).
Family Pride often supports individuals who are living a variety of mental health symptoms. Some examples include anxiety, panic attacks, extended periods of depression, behavioral issues at home, school or work, excessive anger, fighting with others, difficulty dealing with daily life challenges, hyperactivity, lack of self-esteem, exposure to trauma, and compulsive behaviors.
Family Pride is dedicated to serving everyday people everyday!
