Why do people travel all the way out to Hiram to see Dave Kurtz when they could walk down the street to the local grocers to buy their meat?
“Unbelievably friendly service and wholesome quality meats! We would go out of our way to patronize this Amish own/run store even if it wasn’t so easy to get to!” ~ Greg K, Chagrin Falls 7/28/12 Yelp
“We are an old time butcher shop still selling hanging beef, pork, veal, and lamb – fresh or frozen. A meat cutter is always here for special cuts,” says Dave, who has been with Geauga Farms Country Meats since 1989. His humble beginnings started as clean up boy way back in the day for Glen Lehman. He owned JYL Country Store at the time then opened Geauga Meats in 1976. “I came on in 1989, after Glen retired.”
They offer their customers a full line of fresh cut meats including fresh chicken, pork, and thick-cut steaks. They have their own smokehouse for the smoked kielbasa, and even smoked pig ears for your dog! Try their own hot dogs, fresh sausage, cheeses, rabbit, and meat sundries as well as baked goods from the local area. You can purchase package deals for all meats and 1/4, 1/2, and full cow deals. Lots of seafood is also available and the Lysanders seasonings is a best seller.
“Working with the public and meeting new people,” is the best part of owning his business says Dave. “Pleasing our customers with the best quality possible,” goes right along with that.
If you haven’t already been converted, then here’s a little more incentive. Dave is offering the readers of Geauga News a special 10% off on all orders up to $100 for mentioning this article! Lots of holidays are just around the corner, so why not stock up now.
