Geauga Growth Partnership Hosts NEOEA Day 2022

Geauga Growth Partnership (GGP) hosted NEOEA Day on October 14, 2022 in partnership with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve (ESCWR) and OhioMeansJobs Geauga County (OMJ) at Ohman Family Living at Holly, Exscape Designs, and Great Lakes Cheese (GLC).

This event was a professional development offering for educators, school administrators, and local professionals. GGP’s NEOEA Day featured business tours, activities for the classroom, and workforce development collaborations and opportunities. The day was focused on providing information to educators and professionals on post-high school opportunities and potential career pathways for students.

The morning consisted of engaging attendees in meaningful conversation with colleagues around work-based learning in their respective districts and campuses with the introduction to free curricular resources for grades 6-12 via www.ggpyouthworkforce.com focusing on the career development cycle and participating in modeled lessons. The day began at Ohman Family Living at Holly with breakfast, presentations, and games to better understand the resources housed between GGP, OMJ, and the ESCWR.

Ohman Family Living at Holly professionals then provided a panel discussion of their roles, opportunities available, and the culture fostered within the organization by Joshua Wallace, Nancy Ohman Milner, George Ohman, and Christian Ohman followed by a tour of their facility. The group proceeded on to Exscape Designs allowing attendees to tour the business and learn valuable information on the opportunities and career paths they offer. The tours wrapped up with the last stop at Great Lakes Cheese with an exciting tour of the newly renovated and expanded cheese packaging facility. Attendees enjoyed lunch and networking opportunities, along with introductions to longtime employees who started their careers at GLC after graduating from high school, forwarding the success of Geauga County and how students can reap the amazing benefits offered within.

GGP would like to thank the following Youth Workforce Development sponsors for 2022: Duramax Marine, Mercury Plastics, Solon Manufacturing, OhioMeansJobs Geauga County, Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve, and NEOEA Day funding.
