The calls for “help wanted” are heard almost daily in the office of Geauga Growth Partnership (GGP), as Geauga businesses (and businesses region-wide) report the shortage of eligible workforce. This is just one reason GGP launched the “Ignite Your Career” event and is hosting the third annual Ignite Your Career on Monday, March 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the Sisters of Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. The event is free and registration is required at https://ignite-your-career-2019.eventbrite.com.
“We want our area students to be informed about the many job opportunities that exist right in their own backyards,” says GGP President Tracy Jemison. “There are so many excellent employers in Geauga County, and the need for workers is ongoing and growing.”
In a recent Crain’s Cleveland Business article, reporting on a new jobs report conducted by Team Northeast Ohio, we learn there will be thousands of job openings to fill a looming gap caused by retiring employees and natural turnover.
“Ignite Your Career: Pathways to Success for Students” (grades 7-12 with parents) is an evening for students and parents to interact with Geauga businesses and hear presentations by guest speakers. At 6:00 p.m. dinner will be provided by Auburn Career Center Culinary Class.
The goal for the evening is to ignite career ideas, shed light on career pathways available through education and training, and to inspire students to pursue those chosen paths.
- 6:00 p.m. – Meet, Greet & Eat (food provided by Auburn Career Center)
- 6:30 p.m. – Guest Presentations
- 7:15 p.m. – Geauga Jobs Market Breakout
