Find your adventure in Geauga Park District this spring – a variety of seasonal birdwatching opportunities throughout the county, the return of Nights Out in the Parks and the Caveman Crawl 5K Trail Run, and the debut of Astrotots XL for the next-size-up of budding astronomy enthusiasts, to name just a few!
Here are our offerings for April, May and June 2022. For those requiring it, registration opens Sunday, March 20, at 10 a.m. for Geauga residents and March 27 for out-of-towners. You may also view these programs and events published on www.geaugaparkdistrict.org, and in our quarterly Park Explorer Activity Guide, mailed to every Geauga County household and available in all county libraries.

Basket Weaving for Kids

What is a bird sit? It’s a bird survey done from a single location for a period of time on one day. Come anytime during program hours and sit on the observation deck with a naturalist for as little or as long as you’d like. We’ll record all the birds we see or hear in a time period. Bring a chair and relax with binoculars, a camera, and whatever you need to be comfortable. Dress for the weather. Cancelled in the event of heavy rain or storms.

Join us to experience a total lunar eclipse this May! The eclipse begins at 10:30 PM Sunday night and wraps up by 2 AM Monday morning. (Don’t worry, we’ll understand if you only want to stick around for the most dramatic part of the eclipse from 10:30 PM to midnight, when the moon passes into Earth’s shadow.) Join a naturalist for this trail ride, enjoying spring woodlands and the connection to Cleveland Metroparks from a seat in the saddle. Must trailer your own horse and bring a shovel to clean up after your horse in the parking lot. Helmets recommended. Anticipate varied terrain, stream crossings, bridges, a boardwalk and a short stretch of roadside riding. Register for one or both rides with a lunch break between. This program was so popular last fall, we’re bringing artist-instructor Deb Berkebile back for an encore! Come learn a form of natural dying utilizing bundled plant materials and direct contact printing to draw pigments from plants for interesting and surprising marks on fibers, which are transferred to fabric via heat press.
