Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Sewing Club Advances to State Fair
The Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Sewing Club has worked very hard over the past few months to prepare for the Geauga County 4-H Fashion Revue and Style Show. The 19 members of the club each sewed a garment or an accessory for judging at the 4-H Fashion Revue, held on Saturday, July 28. The club members have been meeting weekly since May and working to complete their clothing projects and the required project books.
At the Style Show, the Giggles ‘n Stitches Club did very well. In the “Fun with Clothes” category, Samantha Henrikson won an outstanding award and will advance to the State Fair. Maggie Eibler won an outstanding and is the alternate to State Fair. For “Sew Fun”, Kelcey Henrikson took outstanding and will go to State Fair with her project. In the “Accessories for Teens” class, Betsy Sawyer received an outstanding and will advance to State Fair, while Sheila Roberts also received an outstanding and is alternate to State Fair. Sarah Ward won an outstanding award in this class as well. Katherine Baumgartner won outstanding and is the alternate to State Fair in the “Sundresses & Jumpers” class. For ”Clothing for Middle School”, Caroline Walker and Ashlee Knittel both received outstanding awards. Caroline is the State Fair qualifier and Ashlee is the alternate.
In “Clothing for High School & College”, Sarah Miller won outstanding and will go on to State Fair, while Emily Walker took outstanding and alternate to State Fair. Graycen Wood won an outstanding award and State Fair in “Sportswear for Spectators” and an outstanding award in “Dress Up Daywear”. In the “Frugal Fashion” class, Amy Dyck received an outstanding and is the State Fair qualifier.
Betsy Sawyer was nominated for the Master Clothing Educator’s Award in the Senior Category, and Caroline Walker received a nomination to the State 4-H Fashion Board.
The club is now working to design their fair booth for the Great Geauga County Fair which is held over Labor Day weekend.
