Gold Key/HEXPOL Donates Backpacks to Cardinal Schools – Supplies Will Benefit Students Throughout the District

Middlefield, OH – Three boxes of brand new bright green, black, and blue backpacks were hand delivered to the Cardinal Board of Education on Friday, August 19 on behalf of Gold Key/HEXPOL in Middlefield. “The HEXPOL organization feels corporate responsibility should be part of our everyday life, and demonstrating good citizenship in our communities in which we operate should be a core function of our company,” says Lori Smith, Human Resources representative at Gold Key.

In the past employees at Gold Key have held drives to furnish school supplies to both Cardinal Schools and some of the local Amish schools. However, this year, Gold Key teamed up with Backpacks with a Purpose (BWAP), a company that donates backpacks to non-profit organizations with every purchase, and donated 72 BWAP backpacks to the Cardinal District. Each backpack contains a Gold Key pencil that changes color when held. Smith says, “Our associates and their family members live here. Gold Key and HEXPOL feel strongly about developing and growing our associates and the students who will possibly work here in the future. We hope they will be put to good use and help out some of the needy families in our area.”

In addition to Gold Key, the District has also received school supply donations from Great Day Child Care Learning Center in Middlefield and Agape Word and Worship Center in Aurora. Great Day donated 70 backpacks filled with supplies and members of Agape donated several boxes of school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pens, and binders.

All of the donated items will be distributed as needed throughout the district. “This is great, the community support is critical for our students and we are thankful to have such giving and supportive individuals and businesses in this district,” says Superintendent Scott J. Hunt. “All of these donated items will help ensure student success in the classroom. You never know who might be in need of something or who forgot something, so being able to assist and provide for students easily is key to creating a positive, productive school day.”
