Wanting to observe Halloween a little differently this year? Check out these three unique naturalist-led experiences: one for kids a week before Halloween, two others right on All Hallows’ Eve!
Nature Explorers: Spooky Nature (Ages 6-7 & 8-11)
The Spooky Nature program will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-Noon at The West Woods, Nature Center. Wear a Nature-related costume for this Halloween-themed program to learn about some of Nature’s creepy, crawly critters and their diabolical adaptations. This is a drop-off program.
Geauga Cemeteries: History Written in Stone
This program will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1-3:30 p.m. at Welton Cemetery, on Goodwin Ave. in Burton. Explore this historic cemetery, which is also a history museum, wildlife refuge, botanical garden and art gallery. We will also venture to Burton’s Memorial Cemetery, where some of Geauga’s earliest settlers are buried.
Howl’oween Hound Hike
Join us for this midday hike on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1-3 p.m. at Chickagami Park, Pine Grove Shelter. Parade through the park with your favorite pooch by your side – costumes (dog or human) are optional but encouraged! Bring dog towels, a water bowl, poop scoop and bags for clean-up. One dog per handler and each must remain on leash (8 ft max) and be non-aggressive to people and other dogs.
Registration is required for all three programs here or by calling 440-286-9516. Questions? Please also call that number.
