Gurney Elementary School needs parents of 2021-2022 Kindergarten Students to REGISTER their child for school now, using the District’s online system. A link to this registration system and information is here – LINK.
Gurney Elementary School has launched a virtual Kindergarten Kick-Off slideshow for parents of incoming kindergarten students to provide an overview of kindergarten with video introductions of staff, a virtual tour of the school, and an electronic bulletin board that offers answers to frequently asked questions. The school encourages families to visit https://www.chagrinschools.
On this page, families can find a registration link, the kick-off slideshow, as well as several documents available such as “10 Kindergarten Readiness Skills,” “Pencil Grip, Technology Readiness Tips,” “Ohio Law for Kindergarten-Third Grade Guarantee.” In addition, there are many readiness activities that families can do over the summer to increase fine motor skills, visual and motor skills, handwriting skills, gross motor skills and more.
Kindergarten screening is in August and the administration is building class rosters so registering children now is important. Families also need to choose either half-day or full-day kindergarten for their child. The deadline for securing a spot in a full-day kindergarten class is May 7.
Dates of importance include:
August 6: Class/Teacher Assignments Emailed and Posted in Infinite Campus
Sign Up for a Kindergarten Screening Day/Time
August 18: Kindergarten Parent Orientation, 5:30 p.m.
August 19, 20, 23: Kindergarten Student Orientation and Screening
August 25: First Day of Kindergarten at Gurney Elementary School
“We truly hope that our virtual Kindergarten Kick-Off provides parents some comfort and enough information to get excited about their child’s start to his/her K-12 education,” said Principal Rachel Jones, Gurney Elementary School. “These moments deserve to be celebrated as it is a very special occasion. We are truly looking forward to meeting you all very soon.”
