If you were on the Chardon Square Thursday evening, August 31st and wondered where the laughter was coming from, you were probably close to the Western Reserve Land Conservancy office where the Chardon Toastmasters were having the annual Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest.
Several Toastmasters and visitors enjoyed listening to five contestants present a 5-7 minute Humorous Speech and a 1-2 minute impromptu Table Topic. Each speech was totally original with the goal of making the audience laugh. Mission accomplished as the laughter rolled freely.
Winners of the Humorous Speech contest were Jim Murphy, Christine Martello and Matt Everett, taking first, second and third place respectively. Table Topic winners were Juel Leonard, Jim Murphy and Matt Everett, again first, second and third respectively.
If you want the opportunity to see and hear the top two contestants you’re in luck! Chardon Toastmasters is hosting the Area 20 Speech Contest on Thursday evening, September 21 st in the offices of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, 102-C East Park Street, on the square in Chardon. Come enjoy the humor, camaraderie and good eats. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., but you’ll want to come a little early to meet the friendly members of the Chardon Toastmasters Club.
