Putting Matthew 25:35-40 into action through faith.
“Help Save A Dream” was a combined effort led by Peace Lutheran Church to raise donations to help our community of Geauga County as our state and national failing economy is affecting more and more people. Pastor Curtis May led a group of four people who led our congregation through what turned out to be not only a blessing but also an exercise in seeing how faith works better than depending on our own abilities.
We are just a small church of 50 to 70 worshippers on any given Sunday whom God blessed to put on this event. Without using any of the church’s money, we raised seed money through dinners, donations, and selling individual fry pies. We managed to put on an event with ten hours of free entertainment, (donated by the entertainers quartets, soloist, harpist, magicians etc…). Along with the entertainment, we had a Chinese auction worth $4,600 (all items donated from businesses throughout Geauga County) and games for children and adults. At the end of the day, with a crowd of about 500 people, we were able to raise and reward to Community Funds Partnership of Geauga County $7,920 of which they will distribute 100% to those people in Geauga County who are suffering financial hardships because of a severe illness in the family or because of the bad economy that our country and state are going through.
Community Funds Partnership distributes an average of $250 per family in need per year. They receive all of their funding through donations from churches, Salvation Army, and other organizations.
I cannot express in words the joy I have received from doing this as faith played a very large part in making this happen. We didn’t know where the money was going to come from to pay for our expenses. We didn’t know if things were going to be too expensive, or what kind or where the entertainment was going to come from, or how to feed an unknown sized crowd. You know the Holy Spirit is working when God comes through and makes everything fall into place. Companies donated, venders volunteered, and great entertainment came volunteering from places beyond our immediate community.
I LOVE TO WATCH GOD WORK. WHAT A FAITH BUILDER!
