The culinary roots of Chef Kimberly McCune Gibson of Hungry Bee in Bainbridge are planted deeply in the memory of her Geauga County childhood, where her parents established early, lasting, and intertwining beliefs on the nature of food and community. Her culinary talent will be center stage crafting an exquisite culinary experience guests can’t resist!
HomeGrown Geauga (HGG), Geuaga Growth Partnership’s (GGP) annual benefit, will be held September 13, 2014, from 6 p.m -11 p.m. at the Federated Church Family Life Center, Bainbridge. Proceeds will go to expand GGP’s summer internship and career education programs for Geauga County’s High School students which are “Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today.”
The summer paid intern program, in full swing today, started with 9 students in 2012 and now helps 35 students earn money for education and life after high school and gives them real world work experience in different fields at 28 Geauga businesses and organizations.
Career Day programs will reach over 250 students in 2014 providing help with resumes, interviewing, soft skills, networking and much more. As a Kenston High School graduate from the Auburn Career Center Culinary Program, Chef McCune Gibson was supported by the community with scholarship awards that allowed her to train in classical European cuisine at the Culinary Institute of America.
Kimberly’s passion for food and an entrepreneurial spirit led her to form Hungry Bee, LLC; specializing in personal chef services, catering, cooking classes and event planning.
Kimberly will be joined by distinguished chefs (including Jonathan Bennett, executive chef of Moxie & Red restaurants and an Adams Reserve™ Cheddar aficionado, and Kelly Hanley Potts of the Agrarian Collective among others) who will create exquisite hors d’oeuvres.
Chef McCune Gibson’s grand buffet will showcase the products and produce of our agricultural community, with support from the Geauga County Farm Bureau and local growers.
