Geauga County Tourism invites you to round up your favorite ‘date’ and spend a fun night in the country all for a good cause! The 5th Annual Hometown Hoe-Down on September 28, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Middlefield Market Pavilion (indoors) on Nauvoo Road.
“We get a great response from the Hoe-Down,” says Geauga County Tourism Director Lynda Nemeth. “It is the perfect ‘date night’ because there is such a variety of activities going on, there is literally something for everyone!” Everyone loves a good dinner, and the BBQ Buffet is featuring ribs and chicken from award winning Blazin Bills, and side dishes from several popular restaurants in the county. The Country/Southern Rock Band Whisky Courage will be entertaining the crowd, and Mary Kozelka will be on hand to show us a few line dance steps to get us on the dance floor. For those non-dancers, get on over to the game area and try your hand at cornhole, haybale toss, or how about a ‘pumpkin roll’?
The Burton-Middlefield Rotary will be offering up cold beer at the Brew Saloon, or for those that prefer, a Wine Pull will also be part of the fun! For the ‘gamblers’ in the crowd, be sure to get in on the Chinese Auction, CraZy CardZ, or buy a square on the Cow Plop Drop. “Now, how often do you get to bet on where a cow is going to take a plop?” asks Nemeth. If you are more the type to go after what you want, then the Silent Auction is for you. Prizes have been donated by many fabulous Geauga County businesses and include gift certificates, dinners, attraction passes, jewelry, planters, plants, prize baskets, and much more. Regional tourism partners have also been very generous and donated things like passes to the Rock Hall, $300 to Maui Sands Resort, Nautica Queen cruises, a luxury suite at Gervasi Vineyard, and much more! New Direction will also have a great photo area set up, courtesy of the Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival float, and new this year, a photo booth for you to get creative!
So dig out your cowboy boots, and join the fun! This year’s revenue is earmarked for a project that will literally put Geauga County Tourism businesses ‘on the map’ with a new Geauga County App being created by tEkk3, a local Geauga County company, that will benefit our small businesses and increase the economic impact of tourism within the county.
