Honoring WWII Veterans From Geauga County

The Geauga County Historical Society and Century Village Museum is hosting four events this Memorial Day weekend to commemorate World War II and honor its veterans from Geauga County. This will be a rare gathering of these members of “The Greatest Generation” and a valuable opportunity to remember their sacrifice, thank them for their service, and learn about their experiences.

What: FREE Outdoor World War II themed feature film and newsreels
When: Dusk, Friday, May 24
Where: Century Village Museum village green
Why: A community gathering to reflect on the events of World War II through the entertainment and news of the era.
Tickets: Free of charge

What: World War II Exhibits and Speakers
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 25
Where: Century Village Museum grounds
Why: To view WWII armament, equipment and memorabilia and hear veterans and others recount their experiences from the war.
Tickets: $5 for adults; $3 children under 18; family maximum $20

What: World War II Veteran Tribute Dinner
When: 5 p.m., Saturday, May 25
Where: Century Village Museum Bond Building
Why: To honor the men and women of the Second World War.
Tickets: $25 each. Tickets are extremely limited. Advance purchase only.

What: USO-Style Dance
When: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 25
Where: Century Village Museum Bond Building
Why: To commemorate the World War II era on the home front in the spirit of “The Greatest Generation.”
Tickets: $7.50 each
