Well, it’s not a TOTALLY free lunch…you have to earn it.
The annual insect survey during Burgers & Butterflies, Dogs & Dragons has been taking place at Swine Creek Reservation for more than 25 years, so let’s make an effort to get some good data this year! Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 7th, 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Bring the family dressed in long pants, close-toed shoes and sunscreen for a romp through the meadows, chasing down and netting butterflies and dragonflies on a warm summer day. Then bring your findings back to the shelter house, where experts will be eager to identify them and add them to the running list.
Everyone must catch at least one specimen in order to earn either a burger or a hot dog lunch. Come any time during the specified hours. Nets will be provided. The more time you can spend, the better!
