Have you always thought birding would be fun and relaxing, but are just not sure how to start the hobby? Join aspiring birders just like yourself when you attend Birding for Beginners on Sunday, February 3rd from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Swine Creek Reservation.
Naturalist Trevor Wearstler will kick off your afternoon with bird identification practice while watching the wildlife feeding station located just behind Swine Creek Lodge. Winter bird species we may expect to see there include: Dark-eyed Junco, American Tree Sparrow, Red-breasted Nuthatch and Black-capped Chickadee. “We will also look at some bird art to quiz ourselves on the color, shape and patterns of birds,” said Naturalist Trevor Wearstler, your host. Then we’ll bundle up and head outdoors on the Squaw Root Trail, just over a mile long, to see what other bird species we may be able to find in the woods.
Binoculars will be available for anyone wishing to use them, or you may bring your own if you have them. Registration is not required. Please call 440-286-9516 with questions.
