Lending a Voice to Feed the Hungry

choir FB

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir is recruiting voices for the 26th Free Holiday Concert for the Geauga Hunger Task Force. No auditions, just a willingness to sing challenging Christmas music, including Handel’s Messiah and Robert Shaw for a great cause.

Anyone 14 and up may join. Local food pantries are seeing double the number of families needing food than in2007; and the numbers have gone up another 20% in 2015. Over 480 families visit the foodbanks each month. Your help as a singer or a listener is needed by your community. The Christmas Season will be brighter with so many giving of themselves for their neighbors.

Practices start Oct. 18 at the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial Chapel at 13000 Auburn Road from 2 – 4 p.m. each Sunday until the performances on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. There is also an Easter program in March to complete the Oratorio.

The Geauga Hunger Task Force is a volunteer organization whose mission is to ensure that no resident of Geauga County goes hungry. This is accomplished by seven food pantries located throughout the county that provide emergency food. The Task Force is supported by Harvest for Hunger and food and monetary donations from the community.
