Many hikes in Geauga Park District will take you to beautiful fall color locales.
Chief Naturalist John Kolar recommends Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve during the last week of September through the first week of October to see the bog surrounding the lake ablaze in full color. “Typically, the bog turns to fall about two or so weeks before the forests surrounding it,” John said. “Around October 15 is when the rest of Burton Wetlands’ forested areas bloom with awesome hues.”
Other naturalist-recommended fall color parks, around mid-October, are Bass Lake Preserve, Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, Frohring Meadows, Headwaters Park and Swine Creek Reservation.
And, for those who want a little more guidance, the naturalists have also scheduled some special fall color experiences just for you and yours. All they ask is that you sign up in advance!
