Lenten Project to Support Sisters of Notre Dame Ministries

The NDCL community will raise awareness of the ministries of our Sisters of Notre Dame through this year’s Lenten service project. Seniors and Executive Student Council Members Joe DeMuth (Mayfield Village), Dominic DiFranco (Chagrin Falls), Katie Moorman (Concord), and Katie Tercek (Willoughby) announced during our Ash Wednesday liturgy that NDCL will host a “Dance and Dodge” event on Friday, March 21, 2014, from 3:00 to 11:00 p.m. at NDCL.

“This year we would like to truly support the mission of our Sisters here and around the world,” said Katie Moorman. “Rather than just donating money, we thought that something fun like a dance would get everyone involved and excited to serve.”

The $15 admission will include t-shirt, prizes, and entry to the dance and dodgeball tournament. Funds raised will benefit Sisters of Notre Dame charities, including The Blessing House and the Sisters of Notre Dame Global Missions  in Tanzania, Kenya, Nicaragua, and India.

“The Sisters of Notre Dame do so much around the world to help those who are less fortunate,” Dominic explained. “We want to help contribute to the generous work they do by raising awareness and funds for their projects.”

Students can participate in the dodgeball tournament by putting together teams of six. Each team must include at least two girls. Teammates will be able to create a team name and customize the color of their shirt. The back of the shirts will be universal, but teams can design the front themselves.

The “Dance and Dodge” event is just one dimension of NDCL’s observance of Lent. Our campus ministers have also planned special prayer experiences, the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, simple lunchtime meals, and other activities to assist in our students’ experience this holy season of the Church year.
