OutLoud Cleveland is a reading and storytelling event featuring writers of fiction, poetry, and storytellers from the LGBTQ+ community in NE Ohio. Featured readers include poet Penelope Jeanne Girlblood and fiction writer Christopher Alonso, and the event will be MC’d by writer Alex DiFrancesco. On Sat. February 10th, Lit Cleveland members and staff gathered at Visible Voice Books in Tremont for Lit Cleveland’s Winter Mixer. Over the course of the evening, attendees shopped for books, chatted about recent writing projects, enjoyed two “Destroyer” pizzas courtesy of Crust downstairs, and witnessed phenomenal readings by local writers (and Lit Cleveland members!) Franz Margitza, E.F. Schraeder, and Stacie Williams. Thanks to all who came out! More on our blog.

Gordon Square Review announces Free Stamp Flash Contest

Named in honor of the ubiquitous Free Stamp sculpture in downtown Cleveland, GSR’s contest is for Northeast Ohio writers submitting flash fiction, flash nonfiction, and/or prose poetry entries of 500 words or fewer. Each entry costs $6, and the winner will receive $250, publication in GSR’s second issue, an invitation to read at the launch party, and more. The deadline is March 15th, 2018. Learn more.

Prison Terms Book with Diane Kendig Launch (Free!)

Sunday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., South Euclid-Lyndhurst Public Library, 1876 South Green Rd, South Euclid

Don’t miss the book launch for Diane Kendig’s new chapbook of poems, Prison Terms, which reflects her 18 years leading creative writing workshops in medium security prisons. Joining Diane are participants from the Oberlin Drama at Grafton program, the Lake Erie Correctional Institution poetry writing program, and the Ohio Innocence project. Light refreshments provided.
