Maple sugaring is for everyone at Geauga Park District, with special programs this season designed to reach every age group and level of ability!

Three indoor programs at The West Woods Nature Center will certainly get you in the mood for the sweet stuff in March: a basic Maple Syrup for Dummies on Sunday, January 26th, at 1:00 p.m.; a sugaring skills-based Maple 101 Workshop on Saturday, February 1st from 9:00 a.m. to noon (register through the OSU Extension Office at 440-834-4656); and Sweet Maple: How to Make Maple Confections on Saturday, February 1st from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (including samples).

Two age-specific programs require registration at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516: Timbertots: Maple Sugar Time! (for ages 3-5 with an adult) on Saturday, March 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Swine Creek Reservation; and Elderberries: Maple Syrup 101 (for seniors, maple nut sundaes included) on Thursday, February 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center. Elderberries is proudly co-presented by Geauga Park District, the Geauga County Department on Aging and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.

Join us for an inside look at a sugarbush and trail walk to discover the history of maple sugaring, with some sweet syrup samples included.

Registration is also required for this one; Geauga residents pay $30, while out-of-county residents pay $34. Dress for mess and bring an old shirt or smock!
