Meet Your Merchant: The Corner Cafe

“A bountiful harvest of good food and friends”~ The Corner Cafe Menu

There are some places that start off as normal and commonplace but over time they grow to be wonderful places where we build memories. When you first come through the door at The Corner Cafe, you’ll be surprised to see how warm and bright it is. You can hear the kitchen staff bustling away, smell the fresh coffee, and almost taste the sizzling bacon on the grill. The outside doesn’t do it justice; it is a hidden treasure that sits at the corner of 87 and 528. It’s just waiting to be discovered. Have you been there?

“The Corner Cafe opened on November 1, 2006,” says a cheery Angela Carpenter whose mother Joan owns the cafe. “There was a diner in our location and they were closing. My mom didn’t want to see it shut down and felt there was potential, so she bought the business and here we are today!”

When you arrive, one of the lovely ladies will greet you. Usually Angela or Megan is there to pour me a hot cup of coffee and ask me if I want to have my usual. Although it seems like a simple concept, good food and good service are not always as easily found as I would like them to be. The good news about The Corner Cafe is that I’ve had amazing food and wonderful service every time I’ve gone there.

One of my favorites is the Farmer’s Bowl. Unique to the this cafe, this hearty breakfast is a glorious mixture of gravy, hash browns, eggs, and sausage. “People love it and will bring others in just to try it,” says Angela, who works hard to make sure her customers are happy. She knows happy customers become repeat customers. “The people are the best part of owning your own business, and we have a lot of regulars that have become family friends.”

The Corner Cafe loves being a part of Geauga County. When asked how they like to support community efforts, Angela enthusiastically responded, “We have never turned down a donation to a chinese auction!” And as a special offer extended to our readers, you’ll receive 10% off your food bill when you mention this feature.

I love finding places that are cozy and warm, filled with good people like Joan, Angela, Laura, Kathryn, Shari, Marie, Martha, and Meagan – all of whom are ready with a smile – AND filled with scrumptious food to accompany those smiles. The Corner Cafe has become my new home for Tuesday morning breakfast. I hope to see you there!
