As principal at St. Mary School, Mrs. Mary Petelin has a very special job every morning of the school week. Her job, in addition to running the school, is to move the arrival line, open car doors, and greet our children as they come into the building. It’s a job that she will tell you can be cold and wet on certain days, but is still one she looks forward to.

“Every morning I can tell what kind of day each of our students will be having. I am happy to report that, for the most part, our students begin their day on a very positive note. I attribute this positive attitude of our students to their parents. Every morning I hear wonderful things being said to our children. I see beautiful gestures and encouraging smiles. I hear things such as: ‘Have a good day! Do your best and be kind! I love you! I love you to the moon and back! Make it a great day! Enjoy THIS day! Love you more! Be a good leader! Be kind to other! You can do it! Shine your light! Jesus loves you and so do I!’ And the list goes on.”

How can students not have a positive attitude and do their best when their parents are behind them 100%! Mrs. Petelin said, “As first teachers, parents are giving their child not only a good start to each day, but a good start in life, and an awesome example as what it means to be a good parent. I am so blessed to be a part of this school community.”
