Nature – Fold It Up

Create frog, duck, and crane from traditional origami paper

Imagine how you would convey a frog, a duck, or a crane with a sheet of paper – and no means of drawing them.

There’s a trick to this, and artist Ginger Wankewycz will show you the way using one sheet of kami (origami) paper each.

Join her at “Nature Folds” Origami Workshop (Ages 8+) on Wednesday, November 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township.

Ginger has built origami creations since the age of eight and now sells her fine art prints, origami designs, and jewelry in many art and craft shops in Northern Ohio. A graduate of the fine arts program at Baldwin-Wallace College in 2001, she is also extremely active in the community, teaching both origami and printmaking at schools, community centers, and libraries with great attention to detail.

“When creating an image, she likes to think about the individual sections of the piece and how they relate to the work as a whole, and feels that each and every section of a work should be able to function on its own,” according to her website.

Participants will pay $12 to take this class – $2 upon registering or 440-286-9516, then $10 directly to Ginger at the program. Ages 8 and older, please. The West Woods Nature Center is wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
