With a spring in their step and a lively song from their lips, NDES 6th-grade students trekked over 20 miles of preserved land at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center during their overnight learning adventure May 8th – 11th. CVEEC is a unique learning place where a discovery-based program incorporates classroom instruction in art, technology, science, math, social studies and language arts.
Students were immersed in nature from the moment they arrived. Activities included hikes through 500 acres of wilderness, performing and viewing environmental experiments, exploring animal behavior and habitation, participating in team building activities, songs and enjoying nutritious meals prepared from locally produced foods.
Each day the boys and girls discovered their important role and responsibility to each other and the world around them. The theme was reinforced in one of the many camp songs “All the Rivers Run.”
