CHS Teacher Receives State Environmental Award
Chardon High School Chemistry teacher, Marilyn Rohr, has been named the “2014 Outstanding Environmental Educator Award in the Field of Formal Education” from the Environmental Education Council of Ohio (EECO). Marilyn was nominated by the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District for her exemplary efforts and commitment to the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation District’s Envirothon program. She was honored at the EECO Awards Banquet on March 29 at Deer Creek State Park Lodge in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
Marilyn teaches 11th and 12th grade chemistry and has been involved with the Envirothon program for seventeen years. The Envirothon is a hands-on environmental problem-solving competition for high school-aged students. With Marilyn’s steady guidance, Chardon’s Envirothon program has become a dominating force in the state. Marilyn’s ability to produce winning teams at envirothon competitions has made her a living legacy. Through hard work, determination, and leadership, she has led Chardon High School Envirothon teams to the North American Envirothon seven times in the past eight years.

Immunization Requirement for Seventh Grade Students
Incoming seventh graders are required to have a booster shot in the diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis series. You must provide the school with written verification of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, acelluar pertussis, adult and adolescent formulation) vaccination from your healthcare provider. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from school until the requirement is met. This requirement is a state law. Please contact your child’s physician now to see if your child has already had this shot or to make arrangements to receive it. We have already begun accepting written verification of this vaccination for next year. This vaccination can be obtained through the Geauga Co. General Health District. Contact them at 440-279-1950 or see Lori Strickland RN, school nurse, for a clinic schedule.
